Plus, there was a sign. There were dogs and people out walking around the lake, but not too many. It was pretty nice out too! I wanted to stop and sniff all the things. But some things were off limits.
No peeing on this tree! It's protected.
But for the most part, the park was all for me! I could sniff the path, the grass, the rocks, the lake, other dogs, some people--it was basically sniffing and walking paradise.
We met a couple of dogs out on the path, but like the sign says, we were all on our leashes. That's not always the case when we're walking in the woods by our house. Of course, Greenbelt Lake Park is much bigger than our little park.
The path around Greenbelt Lake is something like two miles around, and we walked the whole thing. There was lots of stuff to check out on the way. There was event a few spots where we could stop and look out over the water.
Hellooooo Geese!
The paths were covered with little tiny rocks, but they were covered with leaves that had fallen from all the trees. It was very quiet in the those woods, walking on the soft leaves.
Everywhere we went there was nature, nature, nature. There's the big lake, and the smaller lake were things are extra smell-filled. I looked for ducks and turtles and beavers but I didn't see any.
On the big lake though there were plenty of things too look at along the walk. Not only were there other people and dogs walking, but there were squirrels and lots of different kinds of water birds.
It was a long morning walk, but it was really nice and peaceful. I didn't chase any of the animals, but I did try to play with some of the other dogs on their walks. It was a lot of good exercise, and fortunately there was a little water fountain on the trail that had a special spot for a dog bowl.
We only went once around the lake, but that was enough for me! After my drink of water we got back in the car and went home so I could snooze the rest of the day.
