Happy National Feral Cat Day!

National Feral Cat Day is October 16 and every year it's celebrated as a time to bring awareness to feral cats, the issues that face them, and the millions of Americans that care for and about these special cats!

This year for National Feral Cat Day I shared information with my community as usual, but I also got to do something really special! For the first time ever, Alley Cat Allies hosted an Open House at their headquarters in Bethesda, MD, and because I'm and Office Dog there I got to come along!

On our way in to the office we saw one of the ways we got the word out about National Feral Cat Day this year: chalk stencils!

Follow that cat!

The stencils were all over the sidewalks by our office, and in a couple neighborhoods in the DC Metro area.

But the SURE way people knew they were in the right area for the Open House? Alley Cat Allies' mascot, Frank the Feral was out on the streets to greet them!

My what big FEET you have!

I have to tell you guys, the first time I saw Frank in our office I LOST MY MIND barking! I was pretty sure it was all up to me to protect everyone from this giant furry creature. But it turns out he was super nice and not going to eat everyone, so we become pals.

Inside the office there were delicious noms waiting for our guests. And because we're not just cat advocates at Alley Cat Allies, we're animal advocates, the food was all vegan so no animals were hurt.

I'll leave the food for the guests. I've got a treat stash!

A lot of people showed up! It was pretty great meeting everyone. I got to mill around and check everything out, and say hi to all the people. I even helped supervise some cat inspired doodling.

Make the tail longer!

I got to meet my twitter pal, Deena. She asked especially if I was going to be at the Open House! We got a picture together and I got some pretty sweet bellyrubs, too.

Yeah!! Bellyrubs!!

Did you know I'm pretty good about making small talk? It was pretty easy, though, because all of our visitors had really interesting things to say. The people talked about our work at Alley Cat Allies, the issues facing cats, tips about trapping and caregiving, and best of all, stories about the cats they care about.

Topic of discussion: What do you think about my fluffy butt-tufts?

You can see more photos taken at the Open House, including all of our sweet t-shirts, awards wall, and other stuff on Alley Cat Allies' Facebook photo album. It was a fun day of hanging out with our supporters celebrating National Feral Cat Day!

I have to admit, it was a pretty exciting day and I was tuckered out by the end of it. But I can't wait to do it again soon sometime.

G'night!
